Perhaps Skelly brought the company luck, perhaps they are out to prove themselves more capable, perhaps the unseen watcher was with them, only time will tell, but the Party begins the fight with an impressive series of hits while only taking minor hurts in return.  The Wonderknight wades into the fray delivering a vicious blow to the first archer.  Torald also does his best to smash the spider flat.  Ezeran continues to amaze his fellow heroes with feats of mystical mayhem.  A cone of fire erupts from his staff engulfing 6 of the enemy forces.  The heat of the blast seems especially harmful to the Bugbears as parts of their fur catches fire and they scream in pain.  The Cheshire cat however simply sits and licks its paws as the flames part around it.  Unfortunately the blast leaves his energy store depleted.  While one of the archers is rolling around attempting to put out the flames, Hunken sneaks up, bunches the bear in the head, and steals its purse.  Perhaps overwhelmed by his first taste of combat, Skelly's spell fizzles before it leaves his feet.  Kid fires off three shots, putting bolts in tender places on three of his enemies.  Amid the Chaos of the battle Peteldan is struck in the shoulder by an arrow, A spider crawls up Torald's leg and sinks its fangs into his calf, and the cheshire cat blinks into existence in front of Ezeran.  It hisses at the demons on his chest and then rakes its claws across the mages unprotected face.

The battle goes well for most of the heroes this round.  Ezeran deploys his new found decoy, altering fate just enough that he and his friends avoid all but  minor scratches from the unattended villains. But even minor wounds can take their toll as Torald begins to sway from his injuries. Those same fates have frowned upon the young knight however.  He can feel in his heart of hearts that his luck has soured.  Perhaps terminally.

         Our young knight continues to fall sway to bad luck as the cat taunts him.  His blows falling on nothing but mirage and mist.  It seems that the Skeleton mage fairs little better as his spell once agin fizzles into the ground. The Leprechaun and Dwarf prove that size matters not in a fight with these fell beasts, both striking home.  But it is Torald, allowing his rage to flare unchecked that deals the greatest blow.  The barbarian wades into the pack of woodland creatures striking all of them in turn.  Finally killing the first of the party's foes.  Unfortunately this allowed several of the Bugbears to get in a cheap shot.  Minor wounds begin to take their toll on the party as Torald bleeds from many cuts.

The Fates are fickle creatures, giving as often as they take away. Petaldan bravely places himself in harms way to protect all of his friends against the beasts next attack. Total once again summons forth a barbarian rage, striking out against all of his opponents, smashing that second pesky spider. Ezeran summons forth an enormous pillar of fire and the smell of burning hair and roasting meat fills the heroes noses. One of the Bugbear healers fall lifeless to the orchard floor. This leaves Skelly an opportunity to stab the cat, taking a nick out of one of its ears.
